The next generation of EVmate STR with ISO 15118-20 is in development

A station that knows the battery level of the car, charges from solar surplus and is designed for the EU rules from 2027. Expected availability: December 2026.

ISO 15118-20 connects electric vehicles and charging stations through digital communication. In the next generation of EVmate STR we combine it with ISO 15118-2 and standard PWM, so the station also charges cars with older protocols.

Battery level
A charging target set at the station
Over ISO 15118-20 a car can report its state of charge. You set a target and the station stops charging at it. This depends on the car reporting the value.
Solar surplus
Control in 1 A steps from 0 A
Over ISO 15118 charging follows the surplus closely, and a pause does not end the session. Eco, Fast and Manual modes also watch the main breaker and home battery.
For every car
ISO 15118-20, ISO 15118-2 and PWM
The station falls back to an older protocol automatically, so most cars on the road today keep charging normally.

The standard is described in the ISO 15118-20:2022 specification.

Charging that adapts to your home

The station reads data over Wi-Fi from GoodWe, Solax, Victron, Huawei, Solinteg and Wattsonic inverters and integrates with Infigy energy management. Inverter drivers are still being validated on real installations. For companies it offers OCPP 1.6J, RFID and an optional MID meter.

Getting ready for the new requirements

From 1 January 2027, the EN ISO 15118-20:2022 requirement applies to these charging points for light-duty and heavy-duty electric vehicles installed or renovated from that date:

  • publicly accessible AC and DC points;
  • private AC and DC points using Mode 3 or Mode 4.

This is not a blanket requirement to replace all existing chargers. For private Mode 2 charging, the regulation specifies EN IEC 61851-1:2019.
